Collierstown

Deborah Potter McCormick, 540-463-7652 The Rockbridge Regional Library’s bookmobile will be visiting the Collierstown Presbyterian Church’s grounds today, Wednesday, May 1, from 2:15 to 3:45. This is a weekly Wednesday visit location for the Bookmobile. Drop by the Bookmobile to sign up for a library card, check out a book, and to learn more about what services are available to residents and to the community.

The Collierstown Presbyterian Church’s Night Circle will hold its May meeting tomorrow, Thursday, May 2, in the Fellowship Hall at 7 p.m. A covered dish supper in the church kitchen will begin at 6 prior to the Bible study. The final study on “Christian Virtues” will be led by Debbie McCormick. The Bible study will air on Facebook Live from the church’s Facebook page at 7. All are invited to attend or to join the study virtually.

The Crestmen, a Southern Gospel music group from Staunton, led the April 28 worship service of music and song at the Collierstown United Methodist Church for the Collierstown and Mt. Horeb congregations. On Sunday, May 5, the worship services for both churches will be led by the Rev. Jim Harris while the Rev. Bill Bearden is on vacation.

The Effinger Volunteer Fire Department has made plans to hold its first barbecue chicken sale of the spring season on Saturday, May 18, beginning at noon. Chicken halves and whole dinners will be available for purchase. Food items may be purchased as carryout but some seating for indoor dining will be available.

The churches in the Buffalo and Collierstown communities will be hosting a joint vacation Bible school at the Palmer Community Center the week of June 9-14. VBS will run from 6:15 to 8 p.m. nightly and offers classes for all ages.
