Kerrs Creek

Rachel Clark, (630)

Thank you to Laura, the choir and the praise team for leading music on Sunday at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church. Greg Jewett will be here next week as pulpit supply for Casey and Rachel Clark.

Thank you to Tim Welsh and team for restoring the bathroom in the Sunday school hall. It is almost finished and looks great!

Vacation Bible school is coming up June 3-6 from 5:30 to 7:30 each evening. Dinner is included. On June 7 we will have a board game night at New Monmouth as well as ice cream sundaes. Come on out at 6 p.m. for an evening of fun.

The Kerrs Creek Ruritan Club met at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, March 19. Our guests were the women from the Lexington Woman’s Club. It was exciting to learn that the Woman’s Club started in 1868 and members are from every state, foreign countries and all backgrounds and cultures. The club promotes the civic, cultural, educational and social welfare of the community. Find them on Facebook to see what they do for our community.

Thanks to members that picked up trash. The club met on Tuesday, April 16, at New Monmouth. Deb Weddle and Dave Walsh from the Friends of the Chessie Trail were our guests. The Chessie consists of 7 miles. Virginia Military Institute owns the trail, and Friends of the Chessie Trail work with them to keep the trails clear and free of invasive species. For the past eight years they have kept track of the number of people using the trail and that number is over 90,000. The Chessie welcomes all but asks that all dogs are leashed to keep everyone safe. They do wildflower and geology walks and a Kid’s Fun Run. In October the Chessie will have a marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k, and 26.2 relay. Check out their website or Facebook.

Scholarships will be given to graduating students at Rockbridge County High School on May 21.

The club will meet at New Monmouth on Tuesday, May 21, at 6:30.
