Baldridge Scores Hat Trick As PM Girls Shut Out Bland, 6-0

Monday, March 11 – Earning its most dominant win in years, the Parry McCluer High School girls soccer team opened the season by defeating Bland County 6-0 on Monday night at The Fields at Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista.

Senior Maia Baldridge led the Fighting Blues with three goals, the first three of her career, and had one assist. Scoring a goal each for PM were senior Montana Flint and freshmen Sydnee Baldwin and Jillian Wheelock.

Helped by her defenders, PM senior goalkeeper Madison Kirkpatrick made two saves and had her first career shutout.

PM scored three goals in each half and had many scoring chances, but Bland County goalkeeper Amanda Burnette made 15 saves.

The Blues will travel for a rematch at Bland County next Wednesday, March 20, at 6 p.m., before they play at Rockbridge County on Friday, March 22, at 5:30 p.m.
