Blues Roll Past Covington In Boys Hoops

Thursday, Jan. 3 -- The Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team cruised to a 56-26 victory over Pioneer District rival Covington in Buena Vista.

Josh Chapman posted game-highs of 17 points and eight rebounds as the Fighting Blues improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the Pioneer. Zach Claytor added 15 points for PM, while Will Dunlap chipped in seven markers and Brant Adams tallied six points and six rebounds.

The Blues racked up 30 points in the paint. Defensively, PM -- which led 33-21 at the break -- limited the Cougars to one field goal and five total points in the second half.

Jaun Miller scored seven points for Covington, while Ricky Jefferson and Garrett Morgan totaled six points apiece.
 
PM will play host to Rockbridge County at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, following junior varsity boys and girls and varsity girls matchups between the two schools earlier in the afternoon.
