Busy Night For Firefighters
Nearly every firefighter in Rockbridge County was called out late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
Fire crews from Buena Vista, Lexington, Glasgow, Kerrs Creek, and Natural Bridge responded to a house fire at 11:30 p.m. at 189 Rockspring Lane, Buena Vista. Four family members are temporarily displaced, but Red Cross assistance was not requested.
Rockbridge County Fire and EMS Capt. Kevin Moore said the fire appears to have been caused by electrical wires in the ceiling, and was contained in the attic. There were no injuries to the residents, pets, or responders. Also responding were Buena Vista Rescue and Rockbridge County Fire and Rescue.
Firefighters from Raphine, South River, and Walkers Creek, meanwhile, reported to a residence fire on Old Providence Road in Augusta County about 1:30 a.m. They were joined by Riverheads, Middlebook, and Stuarts Draft from Augusta County. Augusta County Division Commander Greg Schacht and Interim Chief Ron Mastin were not immediately available for comment on the Augusta County fire.
