Thursday, Feb. 16 -- Second-seeded Covington pulled away from third-seeded Parry McCluer High School in the fourth quarter, going on to claim a 57-47 victory in the Western Gate Conference 45 boys basketball semifinals in Buena Vista.

Kiante Barber scored 17 points to lead the Cougars (16-7), who advance to face top seed Radford in the championship. Zach Higgins tallied 17 points to pace the Fighting Blues, who wrap up the season at 15-7.

PM led 34-31 with just over a minute to play in the third quarter, but Covington went on a 20-4 run that stretched through most of the fourth period and turned the game around. Garrett Crawford drained three 3-pointers during that stretch, with the final shot in that trio putting the Cougars ahead 51-38 with just 1:55 to go.

Brady Adams added 12 points and Zach Claytor chipped in nine for the Blues. K.J. Moore totaled 13 points for Covington, and Crawford finished with 12 markers.

Radford and Covington will square off at PM in the Conference 45 championship, which is slated for a 7 p.m. tip-off on Friday.
