Eric Pollitt was hired Tuesday night as the new town manager of Glasgow, effective April 29.

Pollitt will replace interim town manager Jon Ellestad, who came to Glasgow last September, following the resignation of Bill Rolfe.  Rolfe died on Jan. 9.

Pollitt will resign from his position in Fluvanna County, where he has served as management analyst for the past 9 months.  Prior to that, he was an International City/County Management Association (ICMA) management fellow in the town of Templeton, the CFO of the city of Shelbyville and a city intern in Crestville Hills.

Pollitt is a 2014 graduate of the Virginia Commonwealth University, where he majored in political science and minored in economics and public management.  He holds a master’s degree in public administration: public financial management from the University of Kentucky.

In taking action to hire Pollitt, Glasgow Town Council approved an employment agreement and resolution, as well as a resolution to return the town manager’s position to coverage by the Virginia Retirement System.  The position was not covered by VRS during Rolfe’s tenure, since he had previously retired from a different locality.  Ellestad retired as city manager of Lexington.
