A Look At Goshen Pass

8 p.m. Friday, April 14 - Area residents got the chance to see Goshen Pass this afternoon for the first time since this week's fire closed Va. 39 for nearly two days.

Burned landscape could be seen along the road from Laurel Run near the picnic shelter to the entrance to the Boy Scout reservation on the other side of the pass, as well as smoke from a few smouldering spots and even a burning tree.

Meanwhile, a helicopter flew overhead west of the pass taking water from Lake Meriweather to the scene of the fire well to the south of Va. 39 where firefighting efforts are continuing.

These photos, as well as the video, were taken by Mary Woodson around 5 p.m. The video starts as the car is entering the pass from the west.
