Advance Auto Parts in Buena Vista was significantly damaged Monday, Aug. 6, after a car slammed through the storefront window but no injuries were reported.

Witnesses reported that driver of the car, Robert R. Erb, 76, of Buena Vista, accidently put the car in drive instead of park and the car crashed through the store’s 29th Street storefront at about 6 p.m.

Buena Vista law enforcement told The News-Gazette that the cause of the crash is under investigation, and no citations were issued.

The Buena Vista Rescue Squad responded to the scene, but no victims were transported.

The storefront has been boarded up, but Advance Auto Parts employees said that Rockbridge Glass is expected to repair the storefront by next Wednesday. Damage estimates will be finalized after the repairs, Advance Auto reported.
