Friday, May 11 – In a game that was close the whole way, the Parry McCluer High School baseball team defeated Pioneer District rival Craig County 6-5 on Friday in Buena Vista. The Fighting Blues (11-3 overall, 6-1 district) took the lead in the fourth inning and held on for the rest of the game.

With the victory, the Blues completed a sweep of the regular-season series with the Rockets. When the teams met on April 12 at Craig County, PM won 7-4.

In Friday’s game, the Blues overcame great fielding by the Rockets.  Austin Moore led PM with two hits and added an RBI, and Matt Kiely had a hit and two RBIs. Brandon Swangle and Dakota Henderson led Craig with two hits and an RBI each.

Kiely earned the win on the mound, and Zach Claytor got the save.

The Blues will conclude the regular season with district road games at Bath County on Tuesday and at Narrows on Wednesday, both starting at 5:30 p.m., and then a home game against Covington, with the date to be determined.
