PM Girls Hoops Beats Covington To Cap Regular Season

Thursday, Feb. 8 -- The Parry McCluer High School girls basketball team closed out the regular season with a 78-26 victory over Covington in Buena Vista.

Kate Beverley celebrated her Senior Night with a game-high 12 points as the Fighting Blues improved to 19-2 overall and 11-0 in the Pioneer District. Peyton Mohler notched 11 points and five assists, Emma Camden also scored 11 points, and Madison Dunlap totaled 10 points and six rebounds for PM.

The Blues' other senior, Hannah Craft, finished with eight points, six boards and three assists, while Makenna Smith tallied eight points and five rebounds.

Lauren Gillespie and Amiah Hunter scored eights points apiece for the Cougars (11-9, 7-3 Pioneer), and Ariel Barber pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.

PM has earned the No. 1 seed in the Pioneer District Tournament and will receive a quarterfinal bye. The Blues will return to action in the district semifinals at Bath County next Wednesday, with tip time set for 6 p.m.
