PM Hall Of Fame To Induct Six Members And Honor Champions

Friday, Sept. 22 – Six new members will be inducted into the Parry McCluer High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, Sept. 30, becoming the fifth class to join the Hall, and several activities and special recognitions are planned for the weekend.

The inductees will be running back Robbie Douglas, three-sport athletes Lindsey Coleman Fitzgerald and Wayne Lineberry, Carlisle Hostetter, a basketball and baseball player who became a coach; teacher and coach Louis V. “Nubby” Schreiner, and Joe Wilson, a quarterback and dedicated PM supporter and philanthropist.

This year’s class will be formally inducted at a banquet on Saturday, Sept. 30 at the PM gymnasium. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and dinner will be at 6. Tickets for the banquet are $25 for adults and $10 for students and are on sale at the high school, the Buena Vista School Office on Chestnut Avenue, and the BB&T Bank on Magnolia Avenue. Tickets may be ordered by calling the School Board office at 261-2129 and can be picked up at the will call table the night of the banquet.

At the banquet, PM will will honor the undefeated 1977 state championship football team and the 2017 state championship girls basketball team.

The inductees will be introduced at halftime of next Friday’s football game between PM and William Campbell, which will take place at Bobby Williams Field, with kickoff at 7 p.m.

Before the banquet Saturday, there will be a captain’s choice golf tournament sponsored by the Hall of Fame committee at 9 a.m. at The Vista Links golf course. Entry fee is $260 per team or $65 per person. There will be $1,000 in prize money awarded, along with prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive. A barbecue lunch will be provided by J.J.’s Meat Shak. Signups are available at the golf course or by calling the Buena Vista School Board office.
