Monday, May 13 – The Parry McCluer High School softball team cruised to victories in both games of a doubleheader with Pioneer District rival Narrows on Monday in Buena Vista. The Fighting Blues (12-3 overall, 7-0 district) won the first game 10-0, and their offense was on fire in a 20-1 win in the second game.

The two teams were originally scheduled to meet at Narrows (6-13, 4-3) on Friday, but that game was rained out, so they chose to play two five-inning games on Monday instead.

Before the first game, the Blues honored their five seniors: Jayla Baker, Channing Balser, Emma Camden, Peyton Mohler and Makenna Smith.

Chloe Persinger pitched for the Blues in the first game, striking out 11 and allowing just one hit and one walk. Mohler started the game with a solo home run, and PM led 2-0 after the first two innings before scoring four runs in the third and adding four more in the fourth. Persinger and Rheanna Lawhorn led the Blues with three hits each. Katie Claytor had two hits, including a home run, and she also hit a homer in the second game.

In game two, the Blues, switching to play as the visitors, scored five runs in the first and added three in the second before Narrows scored its lone run of the day to cut the lead to 8-1. PM then erupted for eight runs in the third and added three in the fourth and one in the fifth.

On the mound for PM in game two was Baker, striking out seven and allowing four hits and one walk. Smith and Baker led PM with three hits each. The Blues were able to get all of their reserves into the game.

PM will conclude the regular season with a district road game against Covington on Thursday at 5 p.m.
