Postseason Schedule For RC And PM

Friday, May 19 – With the postseason getting underway for our high school teams, here is a rundown of the upcoming schedule.

For Rockbridge County, in boys lacrosse, the third-seeded Wildcats (5-9) will play at second-seeded Jefferson Forest on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the National Conference semifinals. The RC girls lacrosse (4-9) team concluded its season with a 15-13 loss at E.C. Glass in the conference semifinals yesterday.

The RC track and field teams will play host for the Conference 31 Meet on Saturday, starting with field events at 10 a.m., with races scheduled to start at noon.

In baseball, the third-seeded Wildcats (12-8) will play host to sixth-seeded Magna Vista on Monday at 5 p.m. in the Conference 31 quarterfinals. The second-seeded RC softball team (10-8) will have a bye in the conference quarterfinals before playing in the semifinals at Northside on Tuesday at 5 p.m., when the Wildcats will face the winner of the quarterfinal between Staunton River and Magna Vista.

In soccer, the fourth-seeded RC boys (4-10-0) will play host to fifth-seeded Alleghany on Monday at 7:15 p.m. The third-seeded RC girls (8-5-1) will play host to sixth-seeded Magna Vista on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

In tennis, in the second round of the 3A West Region tournament on Monday, the RC boys (15-0) will play host to the winner of Saturday’s match between Turner Ashby and Blacksburg at the Lexington Country Club courts at 4:30 p.m. At the same time, the RC girls (12-1) will play host to Cave Spring at the Southern Virginia University courts.

For Parry McCluer, in the Conference 45 quarterfinals, the baseball team (10-6) and the softball team (13-3) will have home games against Eastern Montgomery on Monday at 5 p.m. The boys soccer team (2-13-0) will play at Auburn on Monday at 6 p.m., and the girls soccer team (0-10-0) will play at Radford on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

The PM boys tennis team (0-13) lost at Narrows in the Conference 38 quarterfinals on Monday but still has singles and doubles matches to play. The PM girls tennis team (9-2) is playing in the Western Gate Conference 45 semifinals today at Auburn.

The PM track team competed at the Conference 45 Meet at Radford High School yesterday. Results from that meet, along with other sports this week and Monday, will be in our May 24 newspaper. If there are schedule changes, they will be posted here.
