Tuesday, Feb. 13 – Rockbridge County High School junior Danielle Crawford is headed to the Group 3A state indoor track and field meet.

Crawford, RC’s lone state qualifier, placed second in the girls shot put at the Region 3C Meet last night with a throw of 36 feet, 1 inch at Heritage High School in Lynchburg. She had already qualified in the event by surpassing the state-qualifying throwing distance in the first meet this season. If not already qualified by time or throwing or jumping distance, the top three individuals and relay teams advanced to the state meet.

The state meet will take place at Roanoke College’s indoor track facility on Friday and Saturday of next week, Feb. 23-24. The shot put is scheduled to begin on Feb. 24 at 12:30 p.m. At last year’s indoor state meet, Crawford placed third in the shot put.
