Saturday, Jan. 26 -- The Rockbridge County High School boys basketball team downed Alleghany 58-48 in the nightcap of the Rock the Ribbon Roundball Shootout in Lexington.

Caleb Walker scored 16 points for the Wildcats (11-7), while Jailik Lynch totaled 10 points, five rebounds and seven assists. Jayson Easton tallied a game-high 21 points to lead the Mountaineers.

The shorthanded Wildcats -- RC played without Alex Balisteri, who missed the game due to illness, while starting guard Aaron Plogger left the floor with an apparent ankle injury in the second period and did not return -- used an 11-0 run in the third quarter to take the lead for good.

Ben Balisteri recorded eight points and four assists for the 'Cats, while Elijah Rogers notched seven points and seven rebounds, and Sullivan Holmes and Harrison Hundley each chipped in six points. Christian Allen had five points for Alleghany.

RC returns to the court at Valley District foe Broadway on Tuesday, beginning with the junior varsity game at 6 p.m.
