RC Boys Conclude Hoops Season With 59-39 Conference Semifinal Loss To Northside

Wednesday, Feb. 15 – The Rockbridge County High School boys basketball season ended with a 59-39 loss to Northside in the Conference 31 semifinals on Wednesday night at Staunton River.

The fourth-seeded Wildcats (11-13) held top seed and Timesland leader Northside (19-4) to two points in the first quarter, but the Vikings then got into an offensive rhythm, scoring 25 points in each of the next two quarters to take a 52-19 lead into the fourth quarter.

Northside’s defensive press was effective, as the Vikings forced 23 turnovers. The Vikings committed just eight turnovers. The Wildcats struggled with their shooting, going 34.2 percent (13-of-38) from the field, while Northside shot 53.2 percent (25-of-47).

Nick Price led Northside with 14 points, Julien Wooden added 13 points and six blocks, and Shey Webb chipped in 10 points.

Jailik Lynch paced RC with nine points, senior Foster Friedman added eight points, and senior Ty Bennett scored seven points and pulled down seven boards.
