RC Girls Swimmers Place Third At Regionals, Wildcat Boys Fifth

Friday, Feb. 8 – The Rockbridge County High School girls swimming team placed third of 11 teams, while the RC boys finished fifth at the Region 3C meet on Friday at the Brooks Family YMCA in Charlottesville.

In the girls’ meet, the Wildcats tallied 99.5 points, finishing behind host Western Albemarle (155.5) and Fluvanna County (140). Completing the top five were Monticello (97.5) and Waynesboro (43.5).

The RC boys scored 59 points, finishing behind WA (149), Brookville (119), Spotswood (86) and Fluvanna County (72).

The Wildcats had several top five finishes in individual races and relays, and nearly all of the Wildcats set personal records. 

RC will send six individuals – five girls and one boy – to the Class 3 state meet next Saturday, Feb. 16 at the SwimRVA Collegiate School Aquatics Center in Richmond. The Wildcats will also four relays – all three girls’ relays and the boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay – to the state meet. If not already qualified by time, the top five individuals and top four relay teams from the regional meet advanced.
