RC Girls Upset Broadway In District Quarterfinals, 62-56

Friday, Feb. 8 – Playing as the underdog, the Rockbridge County High School girls pulled off a 62-56 upset win in the Valley District quarterfinals on Friday night at Broadway.

The sixth-seeded Wildcats (7-16), who had lost to third-seeded Broadway (9-13) by double digits twice during the regular season, overcame an 18-10 deficit after the first quarter and a 33-29 deficit at halftime. RC outscored Broadway 18-12 in the third quarter and 15-11 in the fourth quarter.

Emily Galford led RC with 20 points, four assists and two steals. Jorden Dunn added 12 points and seven rebounds, Phynely Stores scored nine points, Graceon Armstrong had eight points and a team-high 11 rebounds, and Zoe Camden chipped in six points.
