RC Remains Undefeated, Downs Spotswood 3-1

Thursday, Sept. 13 -- The Rockbridge County High School volleyball team extended its unbeaten start to the 2018 campaign with a 3-1 Valley District win over Spotswood in Lexington.

Graceon Armstrong totaled 23 kills and six blocks to lead the Wildcats (6-0, 3-0 Valley) to a 19-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-23 victory. Jaydyn Clemmer recorded 17 kills and 24 digs, Jadyn Harrison amassed 43 assists and Kennedy Clemmer racked up 42 digs as RC came from a set down to win.

Sarah Gardner paced the Blazers (9-2, 1-1) with 19 kills. Ellie Roach added 11 kills, Christianne Burns chipped in eight kills and Morgan Sterling collected 39 assists.

RC's weekend tournament in Virginia Beach has been canceled due to the forecast for inclement weather from Hurricane Florence. The Wildcats will return to action at Broadway next Thursday, beginning with the junior varsity match at 6 p.m.
