Tuesday, Dec. 5 – The Rockbridge County High School wrestling team beat both Robert E. Lee and James River in a dual meet on Tuesday night at RC.

After James River cruised past Lee 58-15, the Wildcats trounced Lee 68-10 and overcame JR 48-30 in front of a large crowd of fans for all three schools.

The wins continued a strong start for the Wildcats, who won the Shumaker Classic on Friday and Saturday at Parry McCluer High School.

RC’s dual against JR was tight until RC’s Anthony Marando beat JR’s Cory Carson in a dramatic 3-2 decision at 220-pounds. It was tied 2-2, but Marando made an escape to go ahead in the final minute of the final period. Marando won by pin against his Lee opponent.

Other Wildcats who won both bouts, with several by forfeit, were Ben Maxwell (113), Kaden Wagner (132), Owen Hall (138), Seth Youngblood (145), Smith Hinty (152), John Ryan Sedovy (160), Kage Tomlin (170) and Anderson Huger (182).

Wildcats who won won bout each were Dacomha Dandridge (120), Tommy Kostelni (195) and Wendell Tyson (285/heavyweight).
