Wednesday, Dec. 5 – In its first home dual tournament of the season, the Rockbridge County High School wrestling team defeated both Robert E. Lee and James River to remain undefeated on Wednesday night in Lexington.

After JR coasted to a 61-12 victory over Lee, the Wildcats cruised to a 61-12 win over Lee and took down JR 42-33.

The Wildcats were coming off a win in the Shumaker Classic last weekend at Parry McCluer High School, where they finished six points ahead of runner-up JR in the round-robin tournament.

Against Lee, the Wildcats won all but one bout. In the RC-JR dual, one of the most exciting bouts was at 160-pounds, where RC’s Everette Huger was up 4-3 after two periods and pulled away for a 9-3 victory over Addison McCaleb. Following Huger’s win, Wildcats Elijah Mims (170), John Ryan Sedovy (182) and Wendell Tyson (220) each earned first-period pins against there opponents.

Other RC winners against both Lee and JR, several by forfeit, were Alden Dorey (126), Kaden Wagner (132), Owen Hall (145) and Seth Youngblood (152). Picking up a win each against Lee, several by forfeit, were TJ Bell (113), Justin Clark (120) and Jacob Stearns (138).

Next up the Wildcats will compete in the Harrisonburg Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats have added another home dual tournament, scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 5:30 p.m. against Alleghany.
