Tuesday, April 2 -- Spotswood bested Rockbridge County High School 3-0 in a Valley District boys soccer contest in Lexington.

Jackson Pisk, Junior Marcos Martinez and Abrey Atwell all scored as the Trailblazers shut out the Wildcats (2-4-0, 0-3-0 Valley).

Spotswood's margin of victory would have been much greater if not for a splendid goalkeeping performance from RC senior Zach Brown, who piled up 16 saves. For the match, the Trailblazers outshot the Wildcats 42-0.

Pisk broke through for Spotswood in the 25th minute, blasting in a 25-yard strike that proved to be the match-winner.

Marcos Martinez buried a loose ball from near the penalty spot in the 43rd minute, and Atwell slotted home on a nifty cross from Simon Parmer with 13 minutes to play.

RC returns to the field next Tuesday, April 9, with a road match at Broadway. Junior varsity action is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
