Trees Fall As High Winds Roll Through Area

4 p.m. Wednesday - Possum Hollow Road has been reopened after VDOT workers removed the large tree that had fallen there today. A tree also fell across Midvale Hill Road this afternoon, but the road has been cleared enough for travel.

2 p.m. Wednesday – VDOT workers are endeavoring to remove a large tree that fell across Possum Hollow Road around lunchtime as the winds picked up in the Rockbridge area.

The road is currently completely blocked.

The area remains under a wind chill advisory through noon Thursday, with west winds at 20-23 mph this afternoon, gusting to 45 mph. Overnight, the winds will die down some, averaging 6-14 mph, with the overnight low dipping to 5 degrees, with a wind chill of minus-4.
