Wildcats Edge Spotswood In 10 Innings To Move On To District Semifinals

Thursday, May 14 – The Rockbridge County High School baseball team pulled off an 8-7 upset win in 10 innings at Spotswood in the Valley District quarterfinals on Tuesday.

The fifth-seeded Wildcats (9-10), who had lost both of their regular-season games against Spotswood, broke a 5-5 tie in the 10th inning when Garrett Huffman hit a two-run double. Treyce McCormick brought in another run with a double. Spotswood scored two more runs before the Wildcats got them out to seal the win.

Bryce Patterson earned the win on the mound, throwing 6.2 innings of relief. Ben Balisteri led RC with three hits, and McCormick and Tyler Camden each had two hits.

In the district semifinals, the Wildcats will play at top seed Turner Ashby tomorrow, Wednesday, at 7 p.m.
