William Lacy "Dick" Hazelwood, 66, of Natural Bridge Station went home to be with his heavenly father Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

William Lacy "Dick" Hazelwood, 66, of Natural Bridge Station went home to be with his heavenly father Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 31, 1951, in Lexington, he was a son of the late George Oliver Hazelwood and Rosalee Carter Hazelwood.

Mr. Hazelwood worked as a mining supervisor at General Shale for over 46 years.

Dick was a member of Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship, where he taught Sunday school, served as a deacon, and was the director of the Men's Fellowship. He enjoyed spending time with his pets, hunting and fishing. Dick loved his family and serving God by helping others.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Edna Walker Hazelwood; son, William Michael Hazelwood and wife Shannon; daughter, Marsha Hazelwood Owens and husband Paige; brothers, George O. Hazelwood Jr. and Paul D. Hazelwood; sisters, Mary H. Harrison and Patricia A. Hazelwood; and four grandchildren, Karson and Jacob Hazelwood, and Keswick and Lauren Owens.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship with the Rev. Nathan Phillips, the Rev. Wes Galford, and the Rev. W. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow at Glasgow Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship.
