Launching the annual Rockbridge Area Cleanup, students from the Parry McCluer High School Ecology Class collected almost 250 pounds of flood debris (tires) and litter from Glen Maury Park on Wednesday, March 12, and another 50 pounds from around their school the following day. The service-learning activity is part of a classroom project in partnership with Boxerwood in which students investigate how inputs on land can in turn impact the quality of streams and rivers to the Chesapeake Bay. This year’s countywide cleanup runs March 22 - 30, with vests and bags ready for pick-up from Rockbridge Regional Library branch libraries and other locations.
