A bout of high winds, rain and occasional thunderstorms swept through the region on Sunday, producing downed trees and scattered power outages across the area. This large tree on Chestnut Avenue in Buena Vista was toppled Sunday morning. Amanda Cunningham, spokesperson for BARC, said the area experienced “a handful of outages due to downed trees,” though she noted the damage was relatively minor compared to neighboring Bath County, which “got hit hard.” Dominion Energy reported similar impacts, with spokesperson Jeremy Slayton confirming that power was disrupted for up to 224 customers at the storm’s peak. Power was restored to most customers by late Sunday evening. (Katie Mikels photo)
