Many thanks to all who participated in the community roadside clean-up day on Saturday, March 22, sponsored by the Effinger Ruritan Club. Area residents are encouraged to join the club’s efforts for the remainder of March by picking up trash and by cleaning the roadways around property lines, churches, and other locations.

The Collierstown United Methodist Church is offering a midweek Bible study for members and interested community residents. An evening study is offered on Tuesdays at 7 and morning study is available on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Both sessions are led by the Rev. Daniel Montague in the church’s fellowship hall.

The Crestmen, a Southern Gospel group based in Staunton, will perform a concert on Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at the Collierstown United Methodist Church. Community residents and those from the surrounding area are invited to attend the concert at no charge. The afternoon’s program will include a brief intermission with light refreshments. The Crestmen have performed across the United States and have appeared on RFDTV and WHSV TV 3 in the Shenandoah Valley. A free-will offering will be taken.

The Collierstown Presbyterian Church’s Cemetery Committee wants to remind families and friends of loved ones buried in the church cemetery that artificial flower arrangements, decorations, and other items need to be removed from gravesites to facilitate mowing of the cemetery grounds by April 1. Items remaining on the graves or ground surrounding the tombstones and not secured to the tombstones will be removed by Cemetery Committee personnel after April 1.

The Night Circle of the Collierstown Presbyterian Church will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, April 3, in the fellowship hall at 7 p.m. A time of fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Bible study. Debbie McCormick will lead the evening’s study. All are invited to join the group in person or on Facebook Live from the church’s Facebook page at 7 p.m.

The celebration of life for former Collierstown resident Janette Coleman will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m. at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church. The Rev. John R. “Skip” Hastings will conduct the service. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.

The Effinger Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 19, at the pavilion on the grounds of the Collierstown Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until noon. The Easter Bunny sponsored by the Effinger Ruritan Club will be on hand to meet and be photographed with the children in attendance. The sponsoring community churches for the event are Union View Advent Christian Church, Collierstown Baptist Church, Collierstown Presbyterian Church, Collierstown United Methodist Church, Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, Oxford Presbyterian Church and the Rapps Mill Church.

The Collierstown United Methodist Charge will hold a Holy Thursday service at 7 p.m. on April 17 at the Collierstown Church. An Easter sunrise service will be held at the Seclusion at 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 20, followed by breakfast at the Collierstown United Methodist Church at 8 a.m. The Easter worship service will be held in the sanctuary of the Collierstown

church at 9 a.m.
