Free Health Care Offered At RCHS Next Month
A Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinic that provides free high quality health care to underserved and unserved individuals is once again returning to the Rockbridge area.
The RAM clinic will be held at Rockbridge County High School on April 12-13.
It will be the first one held in the area since 2018. One had been scheduled in April 2020 at Southern Virginia University but canceled due to Covid. This clinic is in collaboration with Southern Virginia University. The free health care services include general medical exams, women’s health exams, dental cleanings, extractions, eye exams, and prescription glasses made onsite.
The clinic is open to anyone in need, with no insurance and no ID required.
The parking lot at RCHS will open at midnight on Friday night, April 11, and remain open for the duration of the clinic. Once in the parking lot, additional information regarding clinic-opening processes and next steps will be provided.
Clinic doors open at 6 a.m., with services offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Saturday’s clinic operations will be an abbreviated day; patients are advised to arrive as early as possible. Due to time constraints, patients should be prepared to choose between dental and vision services.
In some situations outside of RAM’s control, such as inclement weather, volunteer cancellations or other circumstances, the parking lot may open earlier or a smaller number of patients may be served. RAM officials encourage everyone who would like services, especially dental services, to arrive as early as possible. Clinic closing time may vary based on each service area’s daily capacity.
