THIS PHOTO from a Washington and Lee University security camera shows the person of interest in the theft of items from the W&L bookstore on the morning of March 26. Another photo of this person can be found on the Lexington Police Department’s Facebook page.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a theft from the Washington and Lee University campus bookstore last Wednesday and seeking help from the public in doing so.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on March 26, the department made a post on its Facebook page asking for “the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest” in relation to the theft which occurred between 10 and 11 that morning. The post contained two photos of a Black man in black clothing wearing a black cap and a facemask walking through the campus bookstore. Lexington Police Chief Angela Greene told The News-Gazette in an email on Friday that the suspect stole several graphing calculators.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Donovan Lewis at the Lexington Police Department at (540) 462-3723 or message the department through its Facebook page. As of Tuesday afternoon, no updates on the case were available.
