Fred Mitchell, NASA Solar System Ambassador, presents “Antarctica: Its Place in Science and Space” at the Glasgow Library on Wednesday, April 16, at 6 p.m. He will talk about our loneliest continent, Antarctica. Scientists maintain research stations there, but there are no permanent inhabitants.
Night sky viewing will follow the program, weather permitting.
Mitchell has been teaching chemistry for 23 years at Carroll County High School and is a life-long space enthusiast. He has been selected Teacher of the Year two times and won the 2017 McGlothlin Award for Teaching Excellence. With the McGlothin Prize Award monies, Mitchell traveled to Antarctica with a National Geographic expedition.
