Lime Kiln Theater has announced the return of the Traveling Players Ensemble, which will perform the Shakespearean romance “Cymbeline” on Saturday, July 26.
Advance tickets are $15 and are on sale now at limekilntheater.org. Tickets will be $20 at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the performance begins at 7 p.m. The runtime is 2.5 hours, including a 15-minute intermission. Concessions will be available for purchase.
“Cymbeline” is a beloved play that is less frequently performed. Peek into the dysfunctional family of Princess Innogen, as she fights her parents to marry Posthumous for love. One of Shakespeare’s four romances, sometimes classified as a tragicomedy, this play is a whirlwind of events – complete with war, slander, mistaken identity, beheading, and a final “recognition scene to end all recognition scenes” that keeps audiences and actors alike gasping through to the final reunions. “Cymbeline” is intense, physical, sweet, horrifying, and utterly surprising.
Traveling Players Ensemble is one of the nation’s top performing arts and theatre programs, specifically created for students in grades 2–12. The ensemble, which offers a range of innovative summer camps and conservatories alongside year-round acting classes and workshops, has been recognized and chosen for awards of excellence from the National Endowment for the Arts, Virginia Commission for the Arts, and ArtsFairfax.
