Burr Datz supplied the pulpit at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church on Sunday, March 5. Special music was provided by the choir under the direction of Peter Del Vecchio. The Christian Education and Buildings and Grounds Committees of the church would like to thank all the members of the community and church who gave of their time on Saturday, March 4, to assemble the new play structure on the church grounds. Approximately 25 men were on hand completing the job in less than two hours. The new playground received great reviews by the church’s children following the morning worship service on March 5.

The Collierstown Presbyterian Church’s Cemetery Committee asks that all live and artificial flower arrangements, decorations, and other items be removed from grave sites by March 15 to facilitate mowing of the cemetery grounds. Items left on the grave or ground surrounding the tombstone or grave marker after March 15 will be removed by Cemetery Committee personnel.

On Saturday, March 18, members of the Collierstown United Methodist Women in Mission will participate in a Lenten breakfast at the Augusta Street United Methodist Church in Staunton from 9 a.m. until noon.

A community roadside cleanup day sponsored by the Effinger Ruritan Club will be held on Saturday, March 18. Volunteers and club members are asked to assemble at the Palmer Community Center at 9 a.m. to receive trash collection bags and road assignments. In the event of inclement weather, the roadside clean-up day will be postponed until Saturday, March 25. Area residents are encouraged to join the club’s efforts by picking up trash and cleaning the roadways around their property lines, churches, and other locations.

The community extends sympathy to the family of Darlene Dudley Clark who passed away on Feb. 23. Clark was a resident of Heritage Hall who had many connections to the Collierstown community.
