George Robert “Bob” Garrison, 77, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, at his home in Buena Vista with his family at his side.
George was born on Sept 15, 1945, in Fredericksburg to the late Wilson C. Garrison Sr. and Gladys T. Garrison.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents as well as his brother, Wilson C. Garrison Jr., and two sisters, Nancy L. McCluer and Rose-Marie Garrison.
George had a long and successful career in law enforcement that began with the Buena Vista Police Department in 1968. Then he served with the Prince William County Sheriffs Department and the Prince William County Police Department where he retired as a senior detective after 28 years of service.
George was an avid hunter and fisherman as he loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping and vacationing at the beach with his family as well as playing the slot machines at Charlestown and the VFW.
George is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sheila Flint Garrison; son, Robert Wilson Garrison; daughter, Jennifer Garrison Layne; three grandchildren, Jerome O.S. Layne Jr. and wife Kaylee, Jordan Seth Garrison Layne and Jasmine Sarah Elisabeth Layne; as well as five deeply loved greatgrandchildren, Sadie, Cohen, Haegan, Hadleigh and Cyder; and his best friend, partner in crime and sister, Betty Jean Hummell.
There will be no services at this time.
Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
