RCHS FCCLA Busy This Past Fall

The Rockbridge County High School Chapter of FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) has been busy this school year with lots of activities in and outside of the school building.

The Rockbridge County High School Chapter of FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) has been busy this school year with lots of activities in and outside of the school building.

In October, members traveled to the Virginia State Fair in Doswell where over 40 RCHS students entered various creations in the FCCLA competition there.

More recently, members had the opportunity to attend College Day events at Virginia Tech and James Madison University to learn more about the FCS (Family and Consumer Sciences) programs at those schools. RCHS’ own state vice president of programs, Daniel Grimm, helped organize and lead these events.

The Wildcat Chapter is currently partnering with a local nonprofit to collect toys for low-income families in the community for the upcoming holidays.

The RCHS Chapter of Educators Rising also visited two local schools this fall and is enjoying their interactions with younger students. They also visited the campus of Longwood University to learn more about the education program at the school and how to become a licensed teacher in Virginia.

The RCHS members of YStreet also held a training this fall and now have 30 new members. YStreet is the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth’s awardwinning volunteer initiative for high school students.
