Derrick, former Lexington mayor and longtime member of the hospital’s board, died last September. “Our community is greatly indebted to Buddy and the Derrick family for their commitment to the entire community and especially the hospital,” said Friedman. “Buddy supported the work of the hospital as mayor, as resident, as board member, as financial contributor, and as patient on a few occasions.”
