On Sunday, March 26, Burr Datz was the guest speaker for the morning worship service at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church. The final weekly four-cents-a-week offering was collected during the worship hour for the purchase of food supplies for the Effinger Community’s Rise Against Hunger packing day to be held in 2024. Many thanks to all who gave donations that totaled $745.80.
The Collierstown Presbyterian Church family celebrated the birthday of member Ecalean Entsminger on Monday, March 27, with cards, flowers and gifts as well as visits.
The Effinger Ruritan Club would like to thank the members of the club and community who assisted with the roadside clean up day on Saturday, March 25. The support and assistance received was greatly appreciated. The Effinger Ruritan Club’s next monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at the Palmer Community Center. The community is asked to make this an ongoing project by keeping our roadsides litter-free in the weeks ahead. Individuals interested in community service are invited to contact Chris Cartwright, club president, or any club member about becoming an Effinger Ruritan.
The Effinger Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 8, in the field across from the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department from 11 a.m. until noon. Families are invited to bring children to enjoy hunting for eggs and other activities. The Easter Bunny will be on hand to meet and be photographed with the children in attendance. The Effinger Ruritan Club is sponsoring the photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny. Egg hunting and activities will be provided by the community’s churches ‒ Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown Presbyterian, Collierstown United Methodist, Mt. Horeb United Methodist, Oxford Presbyterian, and Union View Advent Christian.
As the celebration of Easter approaches, the community churches are providing a variety of activities and special services. The Collierstown Presbyterian Church invites the community to join with the membership to participate in its services and activities on Easter Sunday, April 9. An Easter sunrise service will take place at the top of cemetery hill at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church at 6:30 a.m. All are invited to enjoy a hot breakfast in the fellowship hall following the service. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held in the church sanctuary. At 11 the Easter worship service will be celebrated in the church sanctuary. Community and church members are invited to place flowers and greenery representing Christ’s resurrection on the cross located outside at the front of the church on Saturday or Sunday, April 8 or 9.
The Collierstown United Methodist Charge will have a combined Holy Thursday service for community residents and the Mt. Horeb and Collierstown congregations on Thursday, April 6, at 7 p.m. at the Collierstown Church. On Friday, April 7, a combined Good Friday service will be held at the Mt. Horeb Church at 7 p.m. This year’s Easter sunrise service will be held at The Seclusion at 7 a.m. on April 9 with a breakfast to follow at the Collierstown United Methodist Church. The combined Easter morning worship service will be held at 9 a.m. at the Collierstown Church.
