Bonnie M. Wolfe Claytor, 102, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
Bonnie was born in Covington on July 31, 1920, to Claude and Dana Wolfe. Bonnie graduated from Fairfield High School in 1938. Bonnie married the love of her life, Sherman “Elwood” Claytor on November 23, 1939. They had two children, Mona Lavon and Thomas Roger Claytor. Elwood served in World War II and was killed in action on Jan. 8, 1945.
Bonnie received her degree in nursing from Capital City School of Nursing Gallinger Municipal Hospital. Bonnie was a nurse for 30 years at D.C. General Hospital in Washington, D.C. Bonnie loved to travel, gamble and play cards. She loved spending time with family and looked forward to holiday gettogethers.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Claude M. Wolfe and Dana Lee McClung Wolfe; siblings, Claude M. Wolfe Jr., Harry Hugh Wolfe, Herbert Curtis Wolfe, Richard Allen Wolfe and Norman Loyd Wolfe; son, Thomas R. Claytor; son-in-law, Marion L. “Jake” Conner; and great-grandson, Jacob Soo Hyung West.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Mona L. Conner; her grandchildren, Katheryne L. West (Wayne), Sherman O. Conner (Sandi), Michael T. Conner (Susan), M. David Conner, Tod R. Claytor (Cristy), Thomas R. Claytor, Amy Lockmer (Troy) and Justin Calhoun (Amy); 20 grandchildren and 13 greatgreat- grandchildren. Bonnie was known as “Kitten” by her family and friends and Nana by her grandchildren. She was loved and her presence will be dearly missed.
There will be a private celebration of life at Bonnie’s residence.
