Glasgow Town Council heard a range of reports at its April meeting.

Mayor Paul Williams noted there were 42 various police calls answered in the last month, most being “well checks.” The county continues to cover the town in the absence of a town police chief.

Farmer’s market manager Carolyn Bradley reported that plans for the May 6 Craft and Bakers event were falling into place with Bizzee B’s BBQ selling food and a full house of crafters and bakers. A list of vendors was given to Council members.

Chris Flint, staff member, said the recent spring cleanup week was successful, and lots of items were hauled off from the fair grounds site. They were waiting for a “nonwindy” day to burn the brush pile.

Council will hold a couple of budget workshops to be ready by May 9 for a public hearing.

The Community Table has started holding free community meals at the Thompson Community Center, the first one held April 12. The next is planned for June 14, with others planned throughout the year.

The Concerned Citizens are planning their annual Juneteenth event in June. More information will be forthcoming.
