Ovie Ellis Nicely, 86, of Buena Vista died April 22

Ovie Ellis Nicely, 86, of Buena Vista died Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born May 18, 1936 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Guy Chittum Nicely Sr. and Hattie Agnor Nicely.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving Mr. Nicely are his wife of 65 years, Betty Garrett Nicely, and daughters Teresa Whitehead and spouse Michael of Roanoke and Carolyn Carrigan and spouse Jim of South Carolina.

Ovie was a faithful member and former deacon at Victory Baptist Church and retired from Mundet Hermetite.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Dean Staton. Interment will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
