A service of installation for the Rev. Andrew James “Drew” Ditzel will be held Sunday afternoon, May 7, at 3 p.m., in the sanctuary at Lexington Presbyterian Church.
Ditzel accepted the call as LPC’s minister in June 2022 and gave his first sermon on Sunday, Aug. 7.
Shenandoah Presbytery Moderator and Convener Rev. April Cranford will preside over the service and present the constitutional questions to Ditzel. Cranford is pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro. The Reverends Casey and Rachel Clark, co-pastors at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church in Rockbridge County, will present the charge to Ditzel.
The sermon for the installation will be given by the Rev. Dr. William M. Klein, who was pastor at Lexington Presbyterian Church for 25 years (1995-2020). Music for the service will be led by William McCorkle, LPC’s longtime organist and director of music.
The Rev. Patrick Pettit, chair of the committee on pastoral transition for the Presbytery, will present the charge to the congregation. Pettit, interim pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro, also served as liaison to the pastor nominating committee for Lexington Presbyterian. Co-chair of the PNC, Ruling Elder Mary Dugan, will present the questions to the congregation.
Also participating in the service are ruling elders Bob Blinn, Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church; and Trudy Melvin, Oxford Presbyterian Church.
A brief reception will be held in Dunlap Auditorium following the service.
