Rose Wallace retired from the Rockbridge Area Community Services Board Feb. 28 after 15 years of service.

Before joining the RACS family in May 2007, Wallace worked at Western State Hospital for two and a half years.

She is well known in the Rockbridge community from her numerous years in various settings, including Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Stonewall Pediatrics, Augusta Health Nursing and Rehab, Golden Living Center and various private duty cases. Most notably, she served 27 years in the OB/Newborn Nursery of Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

“RACS was blessed to have Rose on staff for the last 15years of her honorable nursing career,” said Kim Shaw, RACS executive director. “I am grateful that Rose provided many years of dedicated service to RACS and those we serve.”

“Rose was a dedicated employee that always had time for her patients and coworkers,” said Sherri Hartless, RACS nursing manager. “She was one of the sweetest and most thoughtful people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and I was honored to work with her.”

“It is clear if you are around Rose for any amount of time, she is loved,” said Greg Hornback, RACS clinical director. “Her patients speak highly of her, as do the staff that work with her. If you were able to attend her farewell, you witnessed many tears. She is loved because she so easily showed love.”
