The fifth annual Woods Creek Run 4 the Kids 4-mile benefit race, which raises funds to treat cerebral palsy for local youths, will take place on Saturday, May 13, at 9 a.m., starting and finishing at Waddell Elementary School.
The race goes on a moderately hilly 4-mile out-and-back course on the Woods Creek Trail, from Waddell to the historic Miller House Museum at Jordans Point Park and back, and runners, walkers, strollers, wheelchairs and those of all abilities are welcome. Food will be provided by BeameupBBQ & Cafe.
Participants can also take part virtually, running the race at their convenience from now until June 11.
With the help of donations, the event has raised about $17,000 to cover the intensive cerebral palsy therapy costs for two local youths, Riven Welch and Alyssa Cornwell.
Registration is online until the day of the race, and the cost for the in-person race, with a tshirt from Bigger Chicken Apparel and food included, is $35. To sign up with no t-shirt and no food, the cost is $25. For the virtual 4-miler, the cost is $25. The student discount is $15.
