The Concert Guild of Washington and Lee University will open its winter 2023 season on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 8 p.m. in the Wilson Concert Hall with a performance by Collective Euphonia. Tickets are required.
Collective Euphonia (CE) is a versatile ensemble of accomplished creative professionals which debuted with a 2019 residency in Roanoke.
W&L music faculty and Collective Euphonia members Scott Williamson, tenor, Anna Billias, piano, Julia Goudimova, cello, and William McCorkle, piano/harpsichord, will collaborate in this chamber program premiere.
CE presents multi-media, inter-disciplinary productions combining music, art, theatre, and dance in sitespecific residencies.
Entitled, “It’s Complicated: Songs and Scenes on Relationships,” the concert will explore relationships of the intimate variety or “the many faces of love,” and will feature works by a wide array of composers from G.F. Handel to John Adams, including the premiere of Amy Scurria’s song, “Listening (Amy Lowell)”.
