On April 29, the annual Lip Sync Battle was held in the RCHS auditorium. There were nine student acts, and a westernthemed faculty act. Third place was awarded to a group of freshmen students called “The Believers,” second place was awarded to the track team, and first place went to Terry Neutusil. In total, 165 tickets were sold, and $1,625 was raised and donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
As the end of the school year approaches, activities for senior students are winding up. The last day of classes for seniors will be Monday, May 15, and senior final exams will take place May 16 and 17. Seniors will go on their senior trip on May 19 to Busch Gardens amusement park. Graduation rehearsal will be at 2 p.m. on May 23, and the senior award night will follow at 6 p.m. Seniors will have the opportunity to go on their senior picnic on May 24, and graduation will be held on May 25 at 7 p.m.
After-school tutoring and homework help has returned for the final weeks of school at RCHS. Tutoring for math, science, history, biology, chemistry, U.S. history, and world history are being offered, and interested students can sign up at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FA IpQLSeO7TSumiTJoVLycYzyXViuMg 45EPUnDbikTC7OvyehKwGs9w/viewform.
Students are also able to receive help from tutors from Washington and Lee University in the school’s library from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Interested students can sign up for W&L tutoring by visiting https:// www.rockbridge.k12.va.us/site/Default. aspx?PageID=1068.
Voting for the 2023-2024 Executive Student Council took place May 1-2, and the results were delivered on May 3. Congratulations to the newly elected officers: President Addison Wright, Vice President Kaley Tomlin, Secretary Drew Potter, Reporters Grace Fleshman and Sierra Bowles, Treasurer Micah Mayr, and Blue and Silver Chairs Milo Mulitalo and Maddie Dahl.
