Goshen Town Council member Debbie Bowden submitted her resignation from Council Monday, effective immediately. She did not give a reason for her decision to resign.
Bowden was first appointed to Council in 2019 to fill an open seat and was elected for a full four-year term in November of 2020. Her current term ran through the end of 2024 with the seat being up for election next fall.
The town put an announcement through the My Town Alert app informing town citizens of the vacancy and that the town is accepting written requests from town residents to fill the seat at least through the end of the term. All registered voters living within town limits are eligible to serve on Council.
Interested parties are being requested to submit their request in writing by mail, email, fax or by dropping it off at Goshen town hall by 2 p.m. on May 31.
Council will hold a vote on formally accepting Bowden’s resignation and appoint a replacement at its next meeting on June 6.
