Ruth Estelle "Nanny" Sorrells, 87, of Buena Vista died May 12

Ruth Estelle "Nanny" Sorrells, 87, of Buena Vista, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Ruth was born on Nov. 18, 1935, to the late Ashby Lincoln Clark and Lelia Sorrels Clark of Rockbridge County.

Ruth was preceded in death by her son Johnnie Sorrells, granddaughter April Sorrells, sisters Margaret Coleman and Francis Smith, and brothers Lewis Clark, Edward Clark, Frank Clark and Jake Clark.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 65 years, Raymond Sorrells; son, Kenneth Sorrells (Joyce); daughter, Loretta Sorrells; sister, Mary Smith; and brother, Tom Clark. Ruth had six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ruth will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Donald Thorne and Rev. Nona Allen.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
