Parry McCluer High School junior Payton Emore had a walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh to drive in the winning run, lifting the Fighting Blues to an 8-7 home win over Craig County in the final game of the regular season on Monday of last week in Buena Vista.

With the victory, the Blues (10-6 overall, 6-2 district) avenged a 6-3 April 18 road loss to Craig. The Rockets ended the regular season at 7-7 overall and 3-4 in the district.

Before the game, the Blues honored their lone senior, pitcher Claudia Coleman, who was injured during PM’s 12-10 home win over Eastern Montgomery on May 2.

PM head coach Troy Clark said he hoped Coleman would be able to play in this week’s Pioneer District tournament.

The Blues enter the district tournament as the No. 2 seed and will play host to thirdseeded Craig County on Thursday at 5 p.m.
