RCHS Students Excel At Educators Rising Event

Three Rockbridge County High School students recently attended the 2023 Educators Rising Virginia State Leadership Conference (SLC) at Deep Run High School in G len A llen. T hese students are in a course titled “Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow,” which is geared towards anyone interested in the field of education.

While at the SLC, the students had the opportunity to hear from this year’s Virginia Teacher of the Year, Daphne Fulson.

The students also competed in various categories and each did so well that they qualified for the national competition. M aliyah H ickling placed first in Impromptu Speaking. Jacob Cline placed second for Lesson Plan and Delivery for Arts, and Cheyanne Clark placed first in Lesson Plan and Delivery for CTE.

They hope to attend the national conference and compete this summer in Orlando, Fla.
